I fell into the dark and delicious hole that any sane individual should never let themselves into. I gazed in awe and jealousy of every delicious Instagram shot and every mouth-watering smell until I finally gave in and climbed down that hole. I developed a foodie addiction. I wasn’t aware for the first months because I told myself it was only temporary and I just needed to enjoy all of it until the fad passed, but it never did. I was in denial. I considered myself the superwoman of all the food lovers in the world. The addictions were bad. I quit my gym membership. I quit cooking except when I was making quadruple stuffed grilled cheese and bacon Paninis. I quit life. And there I was thinking I could strut my stuff and stuff my face without any consequences. I looked at myself in the mirror after I’d devour red velvet cake and all you can eat sushi and thought, “well fuck”. I woke up the next day to eat yet another unreasonably sized burger. This went on for a while until my pants would no longer fit.
I decided to grow a pair and get myself into a routine. I am not a food blogger. I’m not a fitness blogger. I am just a girl looking to get her shit together. I’ve never been on a detox but I figured the best way to start a healthy, yet unbelievably indulging diet was to start off with a 3 day diy juice detox to get my meal routine in order, clean out all the toxins, get my system filled with vitamins and nutrients and control my cravings. I Googled away.
Did you know detox cleansing kits cost up to $200 or more?! Hell no. Momma needs a new pair of shoes! I Googled a few more recipes and finally got one down and made my own DIY 3-Day Juice cleanse.
Like Santa Clause or the Easter bunny I thought the way people talked about their new-found love for juice detox were just a way to let you believe in something surreal and blissful. I was so wrong.
Here’s What Happened:
- I finally got some self-control
- I was never starving, I only had cravings
- I was motivated to keep eating healthy
- I saw an insane reduction in bloating and cellulite
- I got a meal routine in order
- I can control my cravings
- I realized I don’t always have to eat whatever someone is raging about on social media
- It’s not a permanent lose weight fast solution
- I felt incredible after
- I cut down on coffee (I drink 5+ cups of black coffee a day)
- It’s been a week after and I’m down almost 10 lbs.
I’m not going to lie it was difficult but I was never hungry. I felt cravings of course. Who doesn’t want chocolate cake and a cold beer every hour of the day? But if you’re up for it…
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 1 Large Ginger Root
- 2 Bunches of Kale

- 12 Green Apples

I just got done with a detox. It is so great for your health to do that. Keep up the great work on this lovely lady and live unstoppable!

“I am not a food blogger. I’m not a fitness blogger. I am just a girl looking to get her shit together.” lol, LOVE that. I’ve juiced from time to time, but I’ve never done a cleanse/detox – it’s intimidating! Glad to hear it went well for you – maybe I’ll try a mini one for a day or two and see how it goes.

I know many people say that juice detoxing isn’t good for you but I am SO against that and have had much success detoxing using a juice cleanse. I never promote it as a weight loss solution which is why when I saw your post I was happy to see you just said it made you feel healthy and it wasn’t necessarily to lose weight although you did experience that 😉 My only suggestion is to make sure you have a plan POST juice detox, start slowly with soups, raw salads and juices and work your way back into eating solid foods again in a week or so, skip meat and dairy and slowly add that back in too. Your stomach will thank you 🙂 Sending love C

I was a little weary before starting it! I thought it’d be impossible since I’d read such scary stories about them but it wasn’t bad at all! And yes I totally agree! I had a few fruits and veggies left so I made juice I could drink during the day and stick with salads rather than going back to meats or dairy. I’ve honestly never felt better or healthier! Your blog is awesome, love the advice! I’ll be dropping by every now and then 🙂
Diana
How many grams of sugar are in your green juice. I was watching the Megan Kelly show and the nutritionist said there was 52 grams of sugar in one glass of green juice! Yiks!

Is there an after juice cleanse meal plan that you can suggest. I made it through the 3 days but had a hard time figuring out what to eat so I just ate. : ( Need help
Delirium Style
Hey Courtney!
Yes! So what I did was to slowly incorporate carbs and meat into my diet again. Since your body is going to be used to only drinking these juices try to avoid carbs or steak or heavy foods into your diet for about a week after your cleanse. So What I did (and what I suggest) is:
Eat tons of greens and salads, eggs and egg whites and maybe you can even replace a meal with a juice or bowl of fruit.
Also, try to eat small and at the same times as when you drank your juice. This is great to help you maintain a healthy eating schedule and keep your metabolism moving! Let me know how it goes 🙂
Adriana
Im starting this tomorrow. Do you makenall 3 juices in one night and alternate which you de8nk like in your schedule…? Inask because im not sure im understanding correctly. I may be over thinking it.
The grocery list is fir the whole 3 days right?
Thank you!!!
Delirium Style
Hey! That’s funny I just started this again today!
The list is for all three days and just follow the recipe for each juice which will be enough for 1 day.
What I do is The night before I make all three juices I’ll be having the following day and store them in 16 oz mason jars. I have 6 jars so I can just take them to work with me and drink them every 2-3 hours. Does this make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions!
Adriana
Yes that makes sense. Thank you!
Amanda
I am a total newbie to juicing but I thought I could handle your plan so I am going to give it a try. I am going to do it next week but I have what may be a dumb question. I noticed on the recipes you listed some as peeled and some you just listed them like the oranges and cucumbers. Do you not peel those? Hopefully this is not an obvious sort of answer. Thank you for your post. I am excited to try it and kick-start my way to a healthier me.
Delirium Style
No thats my fault I shouldve been more specific! Yes, peel the oranges, lemons, and beets. You don’t need to peel the cucumbers or anything else but if you prefer to you can 🙂 Hope this answers your question
Lynsey
Omg! I just finished day 1, and being new to the juice world.. I thought the same thing. Peel or don’t peel the oranges. Well, I didn’t peel them and hated that juice! Tomorrow I’m looking forward to that juice with PEELED oranges Lol.
Delirium Style
Oh, I know! The peel of the oranges makes it so so bitter! Hope you make it through all 3 days 🙂 I just got back from a 3 week vacation and I’m so ready to start this detox again!
Melissa
Thanks for the recipes. Any idea if you can blend these ingredients to create a drink rather than juicing them? I have a blender that will totally pulverize ingredients but don’t have a juicer and not sure I want to buy one for a 3 day detox. Thanks!
Delirium Style
Hey Melissa!
I’m not sure but I think you’re going to need the juicer! I listed a few cheaper options on here! I’ve never tried blending them for a detox but you can always try it out and see how that works for you. You wouldn’t exactly be “juicing” and won’t get the same results but here is an article I found if you want to read a little more into it —> http://bit.ly/2aNoxU3 and here is the cheapest juicer I’ve found online (with decent reviews!) –> http://bit.ly/2aqYgh6
Raya
I’ve read up on blender vs. juicer and what I’ve figured is.yoi can blend but you have to strain the pulp out. The idea of juicing is your body doesn’t have to use energy to get nutrients out of the “meat” of the produce. The juicer has done that for you giving your body the most nutrients possible. I think you still get more nutrients from a juicer rather than a blender for what it’s worth. So many juicers on Facebook marketplace. Check it out!
Delirium Style
woah! Thanks!! I didn’t really know what the benefits of a juicer vs a blender was! Thanks for clearing that up 🙂
I’ll update the post and include that in there!
Tiffany
I noticed you said “avoid heavy exercising,” I run everyday, is that considered “heavy?”
Delirium Style
Hey Tiffany
I would think so. Maybe switch to a light jog or just a walk instead.
RENE
Is it normal not to feel very good the first day? I get it’s a detox, but I have been juicing for a while so I thinking {hoping} this juice detox would just make me feel better and better each day. But this first day I am not feeling very good. thanks!
Delirium Style
Hi Rene,
if you do not feel well than you should probably stop the detox unless it is from something you ate the day before. You could always start over another day and see if if it happens again. Everyone’s body reacts differently so it could be the combination of fruits/juice that are making you feel sick. I hope this helps!
Michelle
How often do you do this cleanse? I eat pretty clean for the most part but I want to try this cleanse as a boost and I’ve also never juices before.
Delirium Style
Hi Michelle,
If you eat pretty clean for the most part this cleanse shouldn’t be too difficult for you. I don’t juice too often but it definitely helps to do a cleanse when I feel like I need the boost!
Jenny
My husband and I are starting juicing but he doesn’t like cucumbers, can I substitute with another veg.
Delirium Style
Hi Jenny!
Cucumber is where you’ll get most of your juice from so you’ll need to find a similar veggie. You can use cabbage, romaine lettuce, or zucchini. Also note that you may need to adjust the portions!
Hope this helps!
Dawn Power
I LOVE THIS JUICE DETOX!!!! Starting tomorrow for the fifth time usually every six monthes or so . It gives me the boost I need every so often. My only down fall was my coffee intake as I drink a lot. But the energy I got from the juice was a much better kick to my day. I highly recommend doing it with a buddy, as the prep and preparing takes a bit of time and helps to keep you on track and motivated 🙂
Tiffany
Why the cashew milk?
Delirium Style
Hi Tiffany,
The cashew milk will probably have the most calories so it ensures you’re getting enough calories each day. It’s also a great source of protein and healthy fats. AND I’m a dessert girl so this definitely helped with my cravings for something sweet!
Maggie
I don’t like milk of any kind.. is there something else I could do other than cashew milk?
Danielle
is there any side effects to this juice cleanse , like over use of the bathroom:/ I’m at work all day and just want to know what I would be getting into.
Delirium Style
Hi Danielle,
Personally, I didn’t have any side effects. I don’t think you’ll need to use the bathroom anymore than usual unless you have a sensitive stomach.
Courtney
Can I have a glass of almond milk instead of the cashew milk?
Delirium Style
Hi Courtney! I’m not 100% sure if you can but it’s what I did. The first time around I just bought unsweetened cashew milk and the second time just had the unsweetened almond milk I always drink!
JOdyT
I am so interested in this detox! I’ve bought all of my supplies and began juicing this morning. However, each recipe only yielded about 20oz? I’m sure some foods are sized differently but to make almost 40%less seems off. Any suggestions?
Haley
Following for answer bc my recipes yielded 16oz or less.
Delirium Style
Hi Jody & Haley!
I would suggest buying a day worth the first time around and see how much it yields, organic fruits and vegetables are often smaller so it may yield less. Sorry I can’t tell you exactly how much to buy but you could see what you need more/less of when making it for the first day? and then note it down and edit the ingredients for the next 2 days I know the second time around I had to buy a few more carrots and apples to get the full 16oz. I really hope this helps! Feel free to share your results and I’ll make a note of it on the post!
Mel
Thank you so much for sharing this idea. I just started today and made the juice. I also got less than 16 ounces my question is do you think you can top it off with water? In the past when we juiced we would top it off with coconut water but I didn’t add to it I just drink the 13 ounces that it made for day one.
angela
Do you mean 9 oranges because the juice said 3 oranges each for the 3days
Delirium Style
yes!! Thanks for catching that!
Julia Paronian
Hii!I want to do this detox but i was wondering if there is anything i can substitute for the ginger.. i really dislike ginger
Delirium Style
Hi Julia!
I personally haven’t substituted ginger in this recipe however, I found this link: http://www.justonjuice.com/juicing-substitution-list/
You could try substituting with lemon/radish. Or you could add more of the other veggies/fruits and less ginger so the taste isn’t as pungent. Let me know if you try it out or find any more info on it.
Sheree Anderson
Have you calculated roughly how many calories this equals in juice for a day? Thanks. I am actually doing this cleanse now but slightly tweaking it a bit! Thank you for the info.
Kat Maurtua
So sorry for the late reply, Sheree! I actually haven’t but I’m curious to know if you did? Let me know! I’m actually about to give this another go next month. 🙂
