how to be more productive by delirium style

As much as I’d love to be my most productive self, I haven’t been lately. Trying to find a work-life balance has been a bit stressful, especially with all the travel I’ve done. I can’t seem to focus on what’s most important to me because my mind thinks of a million other things I should be working on.

5 healthy habits for a more productive day by delirium style

Can anyone else relate? I’ve made a list of habits I used to do while I was still in school to help ease the transition of making my days more productive.

1. Make a list

Make a list of everything you need to work on. Just brain dump all the things you’re struggling with and note their priority. It can be as long as you want it to be. Do it at the beginning of every month and make sure to prioritize all the things you HAVE TO get done this month. Have this list to reference and a calendar to schedule it all in.

2. Turn your notifications off

I do this all the time! I’m so easily distracted (especially with Instagram) and putting my phone on silent doesn’t help because I hear it vibrate and go to check my notifications. I put my computer and cellphone, and apple watch on do not disturb whenever I’m near a deadline so I don’t lose focus.

3. Sleep vs Relax

Whether it’s going to the gym, reading a book or spending time Pinterest, dedicate a time where you do only that. Don’t push yourself to find the time to do it all in 24 hours because you’ll either crash or get mad at yourself for not being productive and either way it won’t help you, physically or mentally.

Getting a good night’s sleep is part of the process! I was recently gifted with the TEMPUR-ProAdapt and trust me, a good mattress makes all the difference! When you wake up feeling like you were tossing and turning all night, your mind and body will feel mentally (and physically) drained and you won’t be able to fully focus on your priorities.

Try and get used to getting to bed a bit earlier and waking up earlier.

4. Stop making plans

I’m guilty of making too many plans. I make plans when I know I shouldn’t and then I stress myself out because I’m too busy to work on all my projects. It’s hard, but sometimes you just need to learn how to say no.

5. Keep your expectations low

As Phil Dumphy would say. There’s nothing worst than beating yourself up for not being able to get things done in time, getting sidetracked, or procrastinating too much. Take it easy on yourself. Ask yourself what you could do differently to get more done and try again tomorrow.

I have to work on the plans one lol, I end up running around trying to do so many things. I also make myself a list of priorities that way if something doesn’t work out, I know what I can push to the next day.
