Welcome to the most romantic place on earth, Italy. The people are charming, the streets are cozy, and the views are breathtaking. Italy is beautiful and a place I could visit again and again and will keep going back.
Italy gets pretty crowded, which is why I’d suggest traveling during the off-season! P.S. Make sure you visit the Amalfi Coast or stay a weekend in Cinque Terre.

Heads up. The voltage in Italy is 220V and they mostly use C-type outlets. I’d recommend bringing a converter just in case.
Getting Around. Cabs, lots of walking and public transportation. Buy a Hop On/Hop Off city bus. It’ll be the easiest way to get around when you’re doing lots of sightseeing. Advice: book a room based on location. It will save you tons of money trying to get around everywhere.

Best Time to Travel.
Safety. Pickpocketing is VERY common. Keep everything in your front pockets or a secure purse/backpack. Always be alert and never leave your things unattended. Keep your belongings close where you can see them.
Trains. Trains are more expensive than in other parts of the EU. Make sure to buy your tickets ahead of time and purchase a pass if you’re staying in Italy only. You can read more about my experience here.
Tours. To save money + time, I would suggest doing all your tours independently in Italy. However, remember to buy tickets ahead of time.
Suggested daily budget – 122-250 EUR / 135-340 USD (Note: This is only a suggested budget. This is the typical budget for mid to luxury travelers. A typical mid-level hotel for two in Italy starts at 120 USD.
Don’t forget to add these to your packing list!
