About Me

Top

Let’s all take a moment of silence to say goodbye to the sweet winter nights, the toasty cafes, and the nippy afternoons. They will be miss… Actually, that’s a lie. I need sunshine in my life and lots of it. Let’s give a warm welcome to the season(s) that give us any excuse to drink Bloody Mary’s and galavant in sundresses.

Is it just me or is there is something about a weekend full of sunshine that persuades you to cancel all your weekend plans and declare your eagerness of combining two meals together and turning it into a verb. A verb so unapologetically used that you begin to forget what your weekends were like before.

And yes, you understand that reasonably timed happy hours exist, but the word brunch makes sharing a meal with friends seem so mystical that you don’t want to miss out on any of it. And you know that if you weren’t to partake in brunch you’d evidently turn into the Blitz, and as the cast of How I met your mother so elegantly explained it, no one wants to be the Blitz.

Typically there are two ways this inconveniently timed meal can go: 1. You are with your family (or your boyfriend’s family). Or 2. You are with your favorite set of bitches. Either way, you know there’s a chance that this morning filled of Benedict eggs and bottomless mimosas will turn into something only a Blitz will never understand.

So it’s spring (which means it’s practically summer in Florida) and there you are standing in front of your closet thinking of something to wear to brunch. Let’s start from the bottom up:

Shoes

Lose the pumps and the flats. Choose a pair of blocked heels, mules, preferably with a low heel. The pair I’m wearing is from ASOS and they’re sold out but trust me they have a mule to tickle all your fancies.

Bottom

Let me give you a tip from one girl (with too many problems of excessive perspiration) to the next, jeans are never an option. Alcohol and sunny skies don’t go well together. Try a pair of culottes or a skort something that will keep you cool if end up sitting on the seat where the sun just happens to be blazing on.

Tops

Finally, top it off with a summer basic. The typical off the shoulder top; the perfect combination of casual, cute and subtly sexy. The one I’m wearing is Tommy Bahama but below are plenty of budget friendly alternatives.
